EASTERN CHRISTIAN WELFARE AUSTRALIA (ECWA) saw the need to bring together all of the middle eastern Christian religions in Australia in 2014 in response to the escalation of the Syrian and Iraqi refugee crisis. This ongoing crisis, which has disturbed the lives of millions of innocent people has been described by the United Nations and the NGO’s as the largest humanitarian crisis since World War II.
In a bid to provide a unified support and raise awareness of the plight of these innocent refugees, especially the most vulnerable amongst them (children, women and elderly). Eleven Middle Eastern Churches in Australia came together and established ECWA on 17/01/2014.
ECWA hopes for the future is that it will be able to continue to further assist refugee and humanitarian visa entrants escape persecution in their home countries.
